Shakedown Hawaii is an open world action game released on May 7th, 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It is the successor to Retro City Rampage.
The game is set in a fully destructible 16 bit open world 30 years after the events of Retro City Rampage in a fictionalized version of Hawaii. Shakedown Hawaii is also four times the size of Retro City Rampage in terms of map size. Players also have the ability to hijack vehicles of all sorts, including boats and cars. The player can also attract police attention with destruction and violence by committing various crimes. The player also has the ability to do things such as shoplifting from one of the 200 various shops and enterable buildings.
Shakedown Hawaii received "generally favorable" reviews on Metacritic holding a metascore of 78/100 on PS4, 75.100 on Nintendo Switch, and 71/100 on PC. On whatoplay.com, it receives an aggregate score (playscore) of 8.36 on PS4.
